Rubber stamping the destruction of the Great Barrier Reef
Jonathan writes for The Ecologist about how Australia's Environment Minister has backed a project that could spell disaster for the Great Barrier Reef and its marine inhabitants:
"That an environment minister has approved plans for one of the largest coal ports in the world to be located at the heart of the Great Barrier Reef would be comical if it weren't so obscene" says Meddings.
"From unabashed conflicts of interest to the self-censorship of scientists one thing is clear: we have a problem with environmental management in Australia."
